How To Restore Your Manual Backup

In order for us to restore our website which we create a while ago we will need access to the websites folders and file AND the '.sql.zip' folder which was created via PHPMyAdmin. If you need to re-create the backup please refer to the previous article titled 'How To Take A Manual Backup'.

Restoring your Manual Backup - Part 1

First we will put the folders and files in place on the server, we do this by connecting to our web space via FileZilla. We will select all of the folders and files from our 'site-backup-todays-date' folder and drag the over to the right (the server). This part may take some time depending on your 'upload speed', you may want to grab a coffee.

Once all of the folders and files have been uploaded to the server you are half way there, all we need to do now is import the database (the '.sql.zip' folder).

The final stage in restoring our website manually, log in to your PHPMyAdmin (there will most likely be a link within your Hosting Control panel) and click the 'Import' link (location found in the below screenshot).

You then need to click the 'Browse' button and find the '.sql.zip' folder which was created when we exported the database. Once you have selected the folder scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the 'Go' button.

If all goes well you will get a successful message and will be able to see all of the database tables which we exported to create the backup.
